Back to School and Football Season

It's Back to School Time for Gavin! Since his birthday is in July, he doesn't meet the June 1st cut-off for Kindergarten. He is in the 4 year old Preschool program at Happyland Preschool. He is so excited to be in Mrs. RaeDawn's class and can't wait to make new friends and play with all his buddies from his T-ball team that are in his class. Aiven is excited to get more one on one time with Grandma and Papa Fred, since brother will be in school until noon Monday-Friday.

Now that we are back in school it only means one big thing in this household, it's Football Season! We are so excited to watch the Broncos this year, especially now that they have Peyton Manning as their quarterback. Although we loved Tebow and we are so sad to see him go to the NY Jets, we are so thrilled to see what Manning can bring to our Broncos! There is going to be a lot of Bronco Parties this year and hopefully a Super Bowl in our future!

Gavin is extremely excited to play Flag Football this year. He is playing for the YMCA with all his buddies from the neighborhood and Happyland. So far he has scored an average of 2 Touchdowns per game. Here is a video of our little runningback!

Here are some more recent videos from the last part of the season. http://youtu.be/plFxRwiNeko

Summer Fun in a Nutshell

Wow where has the Summer gone....
We have had quite an eventful Summer, where should we begin. Well in a nutshell we took a road trip with The Martinez Family and Gary's Mom, Uncle, Aunt and Cousin to visit Gary's Sis and family in Texas. We drove to San Antonio and went to the Historic Riverwalk,The Alamo, Market Square and Sea World. Then we drove down to Corpus Christi and Port Aransas. We hung out at the beach, went to the Aquarium and just had a great time with friends and family. I never thought how stressful it could be traveling with two kids under the age of 5. There were points on the trip that I wanted to drop and roll out of the vehicle while it was moving and hitchhike back to Pueblo. It's going to be a while until our next family road trip. If we plan on a vacation we will definitely be taking a faster form of transportation!

After our Family Vacation the Summer just flew by. Gavin had T-ball games and golf practice. He was quite the "Slugger." Gary and I were so amazed by his awesome hand-eye coordination.  He hit home runs every time he was up to bat. He still is very passionate about Golf, although he loves T-ball, he still ends the day with a golf club in hand practicing his swing, hitting balls or chipping in the backyard. On his 5th Birthday we bought him the next size up in his golf club set. He just crushes his new driver. He used to hit around 110 yards, now he is hitting 150yds. +.  Our Lil Aiven is becoming quite fond of the game of golf too! She has her plastic purple and red clubs and just loves swinging them whenever Gavin is practicing. Although, I think this little one is going to be quite the singer and dancer when she grows up. She sings to every song she hears on T.V. or the radio and she can sure shake her "Money Maker!"

School's Out for the Summer!

Today is a bittersweet moment for us. Our Gavin graduated Preschool from Happyland. It was hard for us to hold back the tears as our baby is growing up so fast. Here he his waiting to accept his diploma with his good buddies Addison and Mason. Mrs. Mel his teacher mentioned how Gavin loves to initiate "Group Hugs." He gets all the class together and they all jump on Mrs. Mel and Mrs. Sara.

I am so happy Gavin had such a wonderful experience in Preschool this year. He learned all his letters and sounds, how to cut, write his name and try to count all the way to 100! He also learned wonderful social skills and isn't afaid to talk or sing in front of large groups. Mrs. Mel told us that the other day Gavin wanted to share a song with the class, so he got up and started singing, "Party Rocking in the house tonight!" and another student got up and started shuffling with him!  Too cute!
Well only a few more days left of school for me. I can't wait to play school with Aiven and Gav, take Gavin to golf lessons, T-ball games, hanging with the neighbors, swimming, BBQ's and just relaxing!

It's School Time!

Well the time has finally come for our little man to start school. Gavin started Preschool at Happyland on Tuesday, Sept. 6. We dropped him off expecting him to latch on to us and beg us not to leave, but that never happened. He hugged us good-bye and took off with his buddy Mason. We left with tears in our eyes and Aiven was very upset that we were leaving her big brother behind. She got over being sad once we got home and I caught her ransacking his room and she was so excited she got to watch "Tangled" without him bothering her.

About an hour later, I decided to go to the store and pulled a little "drive by spying" on Gavin. He was outside in the playground having a great time playing with Mason. When I picked up Gavin  he said, Mom I love Happyland can I spend the night! Well at least he likes school.

Here is the link to News 5 "Little Athlete of the Week." Gavin did an amazing job and it turned out really cute! The footage online looks a little grainy so once we get our own copy I will download it! Way to go "Little Lefty!"

Happy 4th of July

Too much BBQ!

Aiven walking......or resting!

The munchkins!

The 4th of July just wasn't the same this year with the darn firework ban. We played some golf in La Veta at Grandote and then had a family BBQ. The Riverwalk had a firework show, but last year it was weak plus Gavin doesn't like loud noises! Here is some pictures of the kiddos we took. Aiven is walking and running all over the house. When she hears music on T.V. she stops in her tracks and dances, it is too cute! Gavin on the other hand will be 4 on July 24th. He is still making major gains in the golf skill department. He was nominated for News 5 "Little Athlete of the Week." It will be on T.V. July 12th, stay tuned for his video!

Soccer Fun!

Well I am officially a "Soccer Mom" minus the mini van! Gary and I never played or had any interest in soccer but decided to put Gavin in the Rangers Soccer team this Spring to work on his social skills. He really enjoyed chasing the other kids, wrestling his own teamates on the field and waving to all his fans each time he kicked the ball. We had lots of laughs watching him and although he never scored any goals, he had several assists for the other team and blocked a ball with his head (by accident) but he prevented the other team from scoring. We think he should just stick to golf!
This picture makes me laugh because as you can see he was caught in the act of stepping on my toes with his cleats! Painful let me tell ya especially when you are wearing flip flops! Gavin will be starting T-ball soon!
