Our 6th year Anniversary! 7/17/2010

Wowsers, our 6th month Anniversary was July 17, 2010. Amazing how time flies when you are having kids, working, taking care of a household.... oh yeah and having fun! We played golf at the Broadmoor Country Club, where Gary proposed to me on whole #14. It was nice to re-enact the moment again at such an amazing golf course. The course kicked our butts, especially the greens. I must give Gary credit he did win this round! We were neck to neck and tied on the front 9, but he came around and beat me on the back 9. After a great round of golf, we headed to our favorite restaurant, The Melting Pot. Oh how I love the cheese fondue and the dessert! Another great year has gone by and we look forward to many more to come!

4th of July and Ear Piercing

Aiven is 3 months old on the 4th of July. This 4th we played some golf (I beat Gary by the way),had a BBQ and headed to the Pueblo Riverwalk for a 15 minute Firework display! It really wasn't as impressive as the years past. Gavin isn't to thrilled with fireworks, as he acts like they are blowing up his eardrums. He kept his ears plugged with his fingers until the show was over, luckily it wasn't very long!
On July 5th, Aiven got her ears pierced, as you can see from the picture. Gary didn't want to have any part of it, so he hung out in the food court with Gavin while Grandma Geri and I took her. Aiven was so happy and cooing and cawing with the girl who was about to pierce her ears. She did the first ear and Aiven let out a loud scream. I picked her up to console her and she was back to smiling and cooing and cawing. Then the second ear she cried for a little bit longer but it wasn't as bad as when she had her 2 month immunizations. She is tough like her Momma!

Aiven is 2 Months old!

Our baby girl is getting so big. At her 2 month checkup on June 4th, she weighed in at 10 lbs. 11 oz. 22 1/2 inches. She is in the 50th percentile on weight and height and 75th percentile on head size. She is very petite compared to her brute of a brother. He measured in the 95% percentile from birth and is still up there. He will be 3, July 24th and weighs 41 lbs. Big Boy I must say!
Aiven's developmental skills are compared to a 4 month old. She is very happy and coos and caws. She can almost roll over but scoots around alot in her bassinet. She is starting to grab Momma's hair and Daddy's chest hair!
Don't you just love her flower head-band, as if mommy doesn't have enough to do, in her spare time she is making hair accessories!

Check out our little Golf Prodigy!

Here is a video of Gavin hitting balls at the Country Club with Daddy and Papa Fred. He's only 2 1/2 and has an awesome swing plane. He started hitting the golf ball when he started walking.

Some More Pics of Aiven

Aiven is 1 month old! 5/4/2010

Wow, where has the time gone. It has already been 1 month since the birth of Aiven Reese. We are truly blessed with such a good baby. We are noticing as she is getting bigger that she is resembling not mama or daddy but big brother Gavin. She may not be quite as large as he was, but hopefully she'll have his long "Snuffy" eyelashes. Her last doctors appointment she weighed in at 8lbs. 13 oz. and 20 1/2 inches.

Our little Easter Baby

Aiven Reese Amella, born on April 4, 2010 at 8:15 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and 19 1/2 inches long.
Steph started having mild contractions that morning. We started timing them around 10 am but they were only lasting 15 seconds coming every 20 minutes. We decided to go to Steph's parents for Easter lunch. The contractions grew stronger and a bit closer together but nothing to flee to the hospital for. At around 4:30 that evening Steph started having more painful contractions and they were lasting almost a minute and they were 7 minutes apart. We decided to call Grandma and Grandpa Rodriguez to pick up Gavin and head to the hospital. We checked in around 5:30 pm. Steph was dialated to a 5 and so the nurses started preparing "the epidural" for Steph. She was relaxed although it made her sick towards the end but she didn't need it for very long. At around 7:45 pm the nurse checked Steph and she was ready to push. Three sets of pushes and out came Aiven. She made a quick and easy entrance into our lives!
